Leather
In our leather artisan program, we have trained a group of widows to craft beautiful, high-quality leather goods. Many of these women are caretakers for many children and grandchildren. These women are incredibly hardworking. The income they earn goes directly toward supporting the families who depend on them, and we serve them a hot, nutritious meal to sustain them as they work.
Hadijah’s husband used to provide everything for her and their eight children, until he had to have his leg amputated due to a disease. Suddenly, Hadijah became the sole provider for her family, with no means to buy food or pay her children’s school fees.
It takes courage to start again when you can’t see what’s ahead.
Then, Hadijah heard about the Heal Ministries sewing program. After completing the program, she started a sewing business that now provides a consistent income for her family. And she didn’t stop there. She brought her daughter, Lillian, into the program so they could work together.
Today, Hadijah and Lillian are changing the course of their family, one outfit at a time.

Sewing
Our sewing course is taught by Sylvia, a talented seamstress who runs a shop on Main Street. Students come to learn how to design, cut patterns, and sew clothing so they can one day start their own sewing businesses. They also receive daily meals, so they have peace of mind that their needs will be met as they learn something new. Upon graduation, they receive their own sewing machine, kickstarting their new business.
Our sustainability initiative gives women the freedom to start something new—a new skill, a new business, and a new way to provide for their family. Give today to bring hope and opportunity to women who desperately need it!
