Frequently Asked Questions

How long can you serve as an intern?

Our internships are typically 1 to 3 months in length. This timeframe gives you enough time to get settled, build relationships, and contribute meaningfully to our programs, while also leaving opportunity for reflection and learning. If there are special circumstances or if you feel called to stay longer, contact us and we can discuss whether an extended term is possible.

Are there fees associated with being an intern?

Yes — intern fees cover the costs of your stay in Uganda, such as housing, meals, local transportation, and program administration. These fees help sustain the infrastructure that allows interns to serve effectively. We believe in transparency, so after you apply, we’ll share the exact breakdown of what your fee covers.

Some interns are able to receive academic credit through their school or institution. If you plan to pursue credit, arrange this with your academic advisors beforehand; we are happy to provide documentation, evaluations, or other materials needed.

What kinds of roles or departments can I work in during my internship?

You can serve in a variety of areas: Administration, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Leather Works, Sewing, Pottery, Marketing, or Social Media.
