Stories of Impact: Wilber

Wilber was one of the first employees at the James Place 10 years ago. He began as a “Shamba”, taking care of the plants and landscaping of Heal. He worked alongside Trey for many years as they built and constructed various projects around the James Place; including the guard shack, the treehouse, the pavilion, and the very first Farming God’s Way garden.

Heal sponsored Wilber as he attended school, and he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he joined our administration department. Today Wilber is our Administration Manager, and oversees all the finances of the James Place. He is a member of Heal’s Executive Team and a crucial part of the management of the James Place. Heal gave him a loan to buy a plot of land near the James Place, and we are excited for him to be able to construct his own permanent home.

Wilber has faithfully served Heal with a heart of kindness and humility. He began as a quiet employee, and today is a confident father and leader within the organization. His two children attend the James Place Preschool and can often be seen sneaking in hugs with their dad during breaks.
